Yvonne's (Carmichael)

Yvonne Johnson teaches a line dance class that is somewhat beyond "beginner", but a bit easier than "Intermediate" classes. (Her professional partner Scott Turpin can be spotted at the desk in the corner controlling the music through his laptop.)
The class has a core group of friendly "regulars" who attend every month, because there are always new dances to learn and old ones to refresh our memories. Once you've got the basic steps down, join this group for a wonderful way to get regular exercise and socializing.

If you are Brand New, or have only A Little experience, I recommend instead going to one of Norm's or Phyliss's "Beginner" classes. Look for those listings on the calendar.

What I like best about Yvonne's classes, is that she is in tune with what is popular in the local clubs, as well as what is becoming popular nationally, which she then helps bring to The Ballroom.

This class can either be paid for one session at a time ($6.25 at the door), or as a convenience you can pay for all four sessions of a month at one time ($25 -- no savings over the single session price). If you've never been to one of her classes before, it is best to start at the first one of the month, as the classes will build over the month.
(If you are an experienced line dancer, once you are familiar with her teaching style, you would do fine popping in even in the middle of the month. There will be one new dance that session, plus review of other dances taught recently. There tends to be continuity from month to month, as most students are repeat students.)

Please arrive between 7:15 and 7:30 to sign up and pay. Teaching begins at 7:30.

Directions: Exit 80 at Madison Ave (go east -- a right turn if you took 80 Reno from downtown Sac), right (south) on Auburn Blvd, right on Myrtle Ave, on the left when you reach Hamilton, look for "Arcade Creek Park & Recreation" sign. The parking lot is on the left, just past the intersection. The dance is in the first building, labeled "Rec". This is the building with a large wooden deck behind it.
NOTE: That isn't the shortest route -- it would be quicker to exit 80 one exit earlier -- but I'm not familiar with the exact details of that.
The official address is "4855 Hamilton St"; if you go to that address you will be at the ADMINISTRATION building and its parking lot. From there, walk to the right around that building -- the next building over is the Rec building.
